During a cattle drive, it was important to have a steer that the other cattle would follow. It was called the "lead steer." A good lead steer was sometimes taken back to Texas to lead another herd. This sculpture was done during the Great Montana Cattle Drive of 1989 to commemorate Montana's centennial. The brands shown belonged to my father and grandfather, but can be personalized with your brand or initials.
